The Catholic Bishops of British Columbia recognize the need for a province-wide initiative to raise funds to support healing and reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in our Province. This appeal will launch formally in September 2021. The Archdiocese of Vancouver is launching its Campaign immediately, and then will hold an Archdiocesan-wide Second Collection on the weekend of September 11/12.
In recent days Canadians have been shocked, saddened and angered by the discovery of the remains of 215 children in unmarked graves on the site of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School. We pray for all those affected by the tragic death of the children who died there and at other residential schools in our country. They must never be forgotten.
