Upcoming Events at St. Francis de Sales - November 27 - First Sunday of Advent

Sandwiches for the Homeless & Poor of Burnaby

St. Francis de Sales provides 50 bagged lunches once a month for the homeless and poor of Burnaby. The lunches for December will be prepared on Wednesday, December 7 at 1:00 pm in the church hall and given out the next day Thursday, December 8 at the Southside Community church. We are looking for both volunteers to help prepare the lunches and for donations of juice boxes, margarine, mayonnaise, sandwich meat both canned and freshly sliced, cheese, apple sauce, and fresh fruit. If you would like to volunteer or donate, contact the Church office at 604-434-1328.

St. Vincent de Paul – Christmas Hampers 2011-Two weeks left!

Please grab a TAG from the tree. There is a list of suggestions for Gift Cards at the tree in the entrance. Please drop your Gift Cards in the collection basket or the rectory during office hours. We are still collecting food so please bring an item(s) for the hampers in the next two weeks.

Note: Hampers are delivered to our families on December 10th so they can prepare for their Christmas. If you have questions or to sign up for a hamper, please call the St Vincent de Paul’s confidential helpline 604- 434-3699. Thank you and God bless.

Holly Jolly Dinner Auction – December 3 – from 5:30 to 11:00 pm

Doors open at 5:30 pm.  Tickets are going fast!  Don’t miss out on this fantastic evening of dinner, entertainment and good fun!  Many opportunities to win great prizes!

Donations are still gratefully accepted.  Tickets are $35 each or $250 for a table of eight.  Please join us for this parish and school community event.  Our Guest of Honour is Susana da Silva, CBC News Vancouver Late Night Anchor.  See you there!

CFC Seniors’ Christmas Party

Couples for Christ will be hosting a Christmas party for the parish seniors on Friday, December 2 from 4:00-10:30 pm in the Church hall.

CWL Christmas Dinner

Thursday, December 8 – Ham, scalloped potatoes, desserts, etc. and punch. Doors open at 5:30 pm, dinner at 6:00 pm.  Gifts, door prizes, 50/50 draw and more!   Husband/friend of a CWL member is also welcome. Cost – $15.00 per person.  Tickets will be available at all Masses  (except the Sunday evening of the Grey Cup).

Morning of Reflection for Advent

The Catholic Women’s League invites members of our parish community to join us for a morning of reflection on Saturday, December 10, we will meet for 9:00 am Mass.  Then we will join Father Nixon, in the parish hall, where he will speak to us on the topic, “The Word Became Flesh”.  The morning will also include fellowship and refreshments.  We look forward to parishioners joining us for this occasion during the Advent season.

Memorial Mass

Sunday, November 27 at 9:00 am honouring our deceased CWL members.  A breakfast for the CWL ladies will be served by the Knights in the church hall after the Mass.  If you have not been contacted about attending, please call Marg Surinak 604 434 8027 as we need to know the number for catering purposes.

Book and Gift Sale

New books, CD’s, gift ideas etc., that were left over from the CWL Bazaar, will still be available in the church hall this Sunday, November 20 after the 9:00 am and 11:00 am Masses.

Christmas Dinner Tickets

Tickets will be on sale starting this weekend at the 9:00 am and 11:00 am Masses. The date is Thursday, December 8 at 6:00 pm.

Holly Jolly Dinner Auction – December 3, 2011 from 5:30-11:00 pm.  

Tickets  on sale now!  $35 per person or $250 for a table of eight.  Don’t miss out on this entertaining, festive and fun evening.  Tickets on sale after all masses and are available online at www.sfdsstore.ca.  Evening to include dinner catered by the Dutchmen caterers, live entertainment and silent and live auction.  Guest of honour is Susana da Silva, CBC Anchor and SFdS Alumnus.  There will also be a Grand Raffle (cash prizes of $750, $500 and $250) and Lucky Squares (Canucks prize pack: two home game tickets and a jersey)!  Tickets for these are also available at the back of the church following all masses.  Donations for the silent auction are still most welcome, please place your contributions in the box at the entrance to the church. By giving our families appropriate GIFT CARDS, we believe the gift becomes more personal because our families can choose and buy what is really needed.
