Monday, November 1st 8:15 am and 7:30 pm

All Souls Day Masses

Tuesday, November 2nd at 8:15 am & 7:30 pm. Evening Mass will include a service of light. Parishioners will be invited to light a candle and place it near the altar in memory of their departed family and friends.

Blessing of the Mausoleum Crypts and Graves

On Tuesday, November 2nd at 11:00 am Father Smith and Father Nixon will be at Ocean View for a blessing of the graves and the crypts. If requested Fathers will go to Forest Lawn as well.

All Souls Day Envelopes

Are available on the tables at the entrance of the church this weekend. Masses will be offered (either here in the parish, or given to Mission Priests) for each envelope.

The Book of Life

November is the month that we remember Holy Souls. We will remember our beloved departed by way of the general intercessions at Mass and also with the Book of Life that will be displayed in the. Each family is invited to prepare a page for the Book of Life. New families may add their pages and all other parishioners may keep their pages up to date. We will provide some sheets cut to size or you may prepare your own, write in the names of your departed relatives and friends and then add your page to a blank sheet in the book.

CWL Bazaar – This Weekend

Saturday, October 23rd from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Church Hall. Last chance to buy farm fresh apples by the 5 lb. Bag or by the box! Our tables of fresh baking, jams, jellies, preserves, Christmas gifts, jewelry, sewing, knitting, toys, white elephant, silent auction, country store and much more will be displayed by a country theme. Coffee and Lunch will be served. Donations for all our tables are still welcome and may be deposited in the CWL Bazaar box at the back of the church.

Book & Media Fair – This Weekend

St. Francis de Sales will be having a book & Media Fair brought to us by the Daughters of St. Paul. They will be here before and after all weekend Masses on October 23rd & 24th. Everyone is invited to browse and purchase from an excellent selection of Catholic Books, CD’s & DVD’s from the Pauline Book & Media center in Toronto. This will be a great opportunity to get something inspirational to read, watch, or listen to for this fall and pre-advent time. You can familiarize yourself with the life and mission of the Daughters of St. Paul by going to www.pauline.org

Theology of the Body

Fr. Boisclair is the Diocesan expert on the Theology of the Body. He will be giving a talk on Tuesday, October 26th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in our Church Hall. All parishioners are welcome to attend. This will not be suitable for children.

40 Hour Devotion – Solemn Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

Next week on October, 27th, 28th & 29th it is our parishes turn to host the 40 Hours Devotion. On Wednesday and Thursday it will begin following morning Mass and on Friday it will begin following school Mass. We will end with Benediction each night at 7:30 pm. There are signup sheets at the entrance of the church. Please note that at least one person must be present at all time, if we do not have enough people sign up we will have to reduce the hours. You are welcome to attend at any time even if you have not signed up.

Annual Mass for the Deceased

The annual Mass for deceased bishops, priests and religious will be held at Holy Rosary Cathedral, Thursday, November 4th at 12 noon. All parishioners are most welcome at this special liturgy, to be concelebrated by the priests of the Archdiocese. Kindly remember in your prayers those who have labored for the Church in Vancouver – and pray that the Lord will send dedicated men and women to continue their work.

World Youth Day Update

Thank you to all who came out to support us at the “Soup and Damper” last Saturday. We had great fellowship and earned a few dollars toward World Youth Day. This Sunday, we are hosting Coffee and Donuts in the Church Hall. Along with the donuts we will also have bagels and muffins. We also have chocolates to tempt you. Next week we will have another delivery of fresh picked apples from the Okanagan for $5.00 a bag. Thank you for your continuing support.

Lunches for the Poor and Homeless of Burnaby

St Francis de Sales provides 50 bagged lunches once a month for the homeless and poor of Burnaby. The lunches for October will be prepared on Wednesday October 6th at 1:00 pm in the church hall. We are looking for both volunteers to help prepare the lunches and for donations. Each month we need margarine, fish, meat, cheese, cookies, loafs, granola bars, fruit cups or apples, bananas, juice boxes, sandwich bags, brown lunch bags etc.) If you would like to volunteer or donate contact the Church office at 604-434-1328.

Decorating for Thanksgiving

If you would like to make a donation of a fall item to help decorate the church for thanksgiving please bring it to the church office by Thursday, October 7th.

Children’s Liturgy – Urgent Help Needed

We are in great need of more volunteer presiders and helpers especially at the 11:00 am Mass. You would be able to receive volunteer hours for school. If we do not have volunteers come forward we will not be able to have children’s liturgy at 11:00 am Mass. Please call the parish office if you are interested.

St Vincent de Paul Needs Your Time and Talents

How? Provide food to low income families in our community. Participate in preparing or giving out sandwiches and coffee in the downtown eastside. Help to prepare Christmas hampers. Board positions – learn in a warm welcoming environment how boards work. Volunteer a lot or a little! Fill out a card and drop it off at the entrance or call our hotline 604 434 3699.
