Family Life Education Parenting Session
Preparing for Adolescence – for parents of children from grades 3 to 7 will be held at St. Francis de Sales on Thursday, October 15th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the church hall. Chuck Luttrell, the director of the Office of Religious Education for the Archdiocese of Vancouver, will focus on the teachable moment as a means of offering some ‘helps and hints’ for parents as they prepare for the adolescence years. Research tells us that preparing our children early for the teen years will ease their transition into adolescence and probably lessen some of our anxiety.
All parents are welcome to attend regardless of the age of their children however due to the nature of some of the discussion it is designed for adults only. We will have to turn parents away who come with their children. We cannot provide babysitting. We strongly urge you to attend this meeting. It is becoming more difficult to raise our children in today’s society. We hope this session will be of help to you in this task.

St Vincent de Paul – Christmas Hampers 2009
“The Lord hears the cry of the poor”; it is in what you do for the poor that the Lord hears their pleas. We cannot turn our backs to those in need. There are many circumstances which caused this misfortune. Some background St Francis de Sales Parishioners have always been incredibly generous in the past years. St Vincent de Paul delivered over 59 hampers in 2008. Thank you for your past donations and for using of the “green envelopes” which enables us to create these much appreciated hampers. The hampers consist of non perishable foods, food Voucher enough to provide a Christmas dinner, and Gift Cards for the family.
We begin collecting non perishable foods starting October 17th. Please leave the food at the entrance of the church. We will continue to collect until December 6th. If you have questions or to sign up for a hamper, please call the SVdP’s confidential helpline 604-434-3699 or send an email to SVDPstfrancis@gmail.com.
